It would be nice to find one tutorial on youtube that focused on a subject like shiny text instead of the basics of the UI.
6:44 in and it's basically covered the marquee tool and how to add a new layer.
Heres a tutorial for you, get to the point.
If someone doesn't know the basics of the UI there not going to be able to carry out the task at hand.
