Dean Baker comments are right with regard to the hoodwinking of the issue performed by 60 Minutes. Thanks for posting the clip. One economist who goes into this with some clarity is Ha-Joon Chang. He has some talks on youtube and has written some very good books. I'd always recommend Robert Sheer's "Great American Stickup."

The Federal Government shouldn't have an indefinite Lending Program for State and Local Government's. Unless they pay into it like Financial Insurance that they can collect in tough times. America already has too much deficit and debt.
