Align T-rex 550e 3gx something snap or came loose & tail boom strike Sept. 2,2011.MP4

mid-air tail boom strike.. im really surprise just heard some weird sound and a high pitch then all of a sudden the heli went nuts and the main blade hits the boom. well it went into unrecoverable fall and the repair cost is $$$ actually the only intact part of the heli is the tail assembly .. electronics are all good though... 2mm frame are in pieces...

no idea of what went wrong but i suspect that a pitch rod just snap well maybe....


i edit the title since there is something that snap or came loose...

So 3GX setting is not automatically reset to factory default during crash?

if your 3GX setup still there, sound like the problem is really the mechanism.

@andytam11 yes the 3GX is working perfectly.. the causes of the crash is mechanical...

Did you check the setting of 3GX? Some ppl report the setting reset automatically during mid flight, hope this do not happen to yours....

@andytam11 yes i did check the settings on the 3GX . and when i review the video i heard some high oitch sound then the heli spin out of control and something just snap and blade hit the boom . i hit throttle hold but it is not recoverable it just happened too fast..

@MrJOHNM3 i suspect that the pinion came loose (notice it when i pick up the heli)and stall the motor the momentum of the tail rotor kicks in which cause the heli to spin, i hit throttle hold and suddenly the blade hits the boom and fell on the ground.. the heli is back in the air again ..

Hello, there is a big issue on the slider of the 550 V2. The spacer between the 2 bearings of the slider gets welded to the aluminium body because gap is only 0.005mm between them ! I broke 2 H60077AT and cutted one before understanding the problem. Your video sounds looks like if something was slowing down your heli before everything brakes, strange...
