  • Careless, poorly performed footwork . It would benefit them to find a qualified Scottish Country Dance teacher and develop sound technique.

We are not an RSCDS branch and choose not to be. I find that many of the very technically well-performed RSCDS demonstrations lack any soul anyway. You seem to really lack the tact to actually encourage young dancers. I hope in the future you will remember that dancing is about having fun and enjoying the social element, not about making your feet turn out. Technique is for the SOLE purpose of making the dancing easier and standardized.

  • No wonder the RSCDS can't attract young members with that sort of uncalled for criticism. Here was young people having fun and executing successfully a complicated dance. They weren't in an exam, so whats with the "footwork" then ? Well done

  • Please excuse my typos I was so upset by the 1st negative post

  • I enjoyed these people. It helps to see a video before dancing it ona program. It is arrogant to post as did Semiomniscient Miss Milligan always wanted fun to be number 1 , footwork is good but perfection is the enemy of good. RSCDS has done fien work over the years but to put down an effort such as this with sowgreat P de B is pure rudeness. Judgeing by the footwork ansand phrasing the kids have enjoyed soem good teaching already.Kepp it up kids and to hell with the miserable critics!!

Absolutely brillient a pleasure to watch.

  • @deniseedithsmith Your comment and attitudes such as this are what keep many young people away from our dance form. I have had the pleasure of teaching young people Scottish country dance for many years and as the comment below pointed out it is the joy of dancing that is important. One has a lifetime to perfect footwork.

  • Very well Done indeed !!!!! Nice to see a demo team of younger people that are enjoying themselves. This is a far more likely to attract the younger dancers that SCD so desperately needs, than perfect footwork performed by a team of dancers the wrong side of 60 that struggle to remember the dance.

  • @Semiomniscient . Well said ! The dancers shown are not professional, therefor it matters not that their Pas- de-basque,slip change etc are perfect,as above all else, they are enjoying the dancing ,which is really what these dances were designed to do,which is to socialise and have fun doing so.I suggest Denise watch clips of the White Heather Club and watch for the slip ups made by the very very fine dancers involved.
