Van Cliburn is another great Rachmaninov pianist.

Do you know when and where this was recorded?

Great piece, great pianist, but that piano is a little thumpy for my liking.

@EuphoricDan Ashkenazy is not mediocre. He has recorded more than any pianist, I don't really know what he has to prove to you.

I don't know what you folks are talking about. This interpretation is clear as window pane and about powerful as they come, in my humble opinion.

In the most difficult parts of my life, this piece has been my partner, my confident, my strength. When I hear it, my mind flies to a place where everything is vital, plenty of freedom no limitations of space and time, fullness in beauty. I think this is one of the most beautiful compositions ever. I consider Rachmaninoff wasn't composing just a "piece" of piano, I see a tremendous spirituality, divine, so powerful, I see hope I feel consolation.
Thanks for sharing.
