We visited the hives today, and switched the brood boxes (lower two; where they raise their young) in an effort to encourage them to use all available space. We also added a honey super to each hive. Not that the honey is flowing, yet, but we are opening the hives now once 3 weeks. In that time, 21,000 bees could hatch! That's a lot of colony growth, and in bees more space is better than not enough. So anyway, though we were there early, it was hot in our suits and we were dripping sweat by the time we were done. Apparently we dropped a lot of sweat, as the bees sent the young 'uns out to clean the stoop.
