Abandoned tracks that once went to a strip mine. The mine is still active but they now truck the rock out. The pictures were taken on two separate trips several months apart. Took the longest side the fist day that was after a stormy night. Was still cloudy so most of the pictures are dark. Did the other side of the road on a much sunnier day but still dark in places. That part of the tracks was much shorter and looks like it went to the main line at one time

  • I wish they would fix this up and put a steam locomotive on it for a scenic railroad.

  • @97trainman Way to short. It serviced a strip mine that is still in operation. The line is less than a mile long. Not long enough worth the effort.

  • wow! thats great! have you found the end or beginning of the rails?or where they lead to?

  • I haven't walked to the exact start of them (too much brush at the time) but I can tell they joined the main line that is still active. The other end goes to a still active strip mine. I walked the tracks halfway there and crossed back to the road when I saw the No trespassing sign.

I don't mess with my account much these days. I do my posting on Flickr. Much easier than making a video and then finding music that I'm allowed to post with it. Thanks for watching.

  • what was that at 0:55?

  • Looks like a switch. Think someone else said so too. Just strange that there doesn't look like there ever was another line. No tracks that lead off from these. there is one very short piece that stuck off from one rail. But from the lay of the land and the fact that a creek parallels that line (no bridge) then there is a road then a steep hill I think that either A: there was a short section for one car (but no rails?) or B: the spur was never built. (more likely)

  • @SouthernCresent722 i know, i wish i could though

  • @pennyf9 You can't do that it is ilegal

  • The device at :51 may be a derail with a " ground throw " switch stand.

  • Wood and iron being reclaimed by nature...beautiful and chilling at the same time.

  • the stories the rails could tell.

  • i would have taken the switch mecanism, got a railroad crossing sign.

  • what song is playn? i love it!

  • @thezmanization Same here :)

  • I love this stuff. I'd love to take a year and walk along some of these find's.

  • @whatihave2do Well that depends beacause the PRR museums line is only 1 mile long!
