  • Thanks for posting this! Spectacular!

Call this what you will, no matter what one feels about ELP the truth of the matter is: they belong with pioneers like 'Schoenberg, 'Cage 'Crumb, and 'Glass. Giants of musicianship (whether you like their style or not) they are a fine representation of humanity's achievements musically.Additionally, they brought a live show of daring rock composition, masterful musicianship and interesting and kinetic live stage performance to the people Thanks ELP!

  • @TheIverson6 Ahhhh, another who still keeps reels. I still use my Teac 3340S. Seems we're a disappearing type. As it turns out, the director of the Philharmonic did record the show courtesy of the sound engineer. I got hold of a copy made off the master a week ago from a friend who is an archivist for the Symphony. Cost me a new 10" reel of tape and $20. I ran the tape the other day and it nearly as Epic as the concert. Just like being there again.

  • @GunBroker100 get a hold of me ,one/twice a year i bust out the large reels an that E.L.P show is one i always cue up ! an it's been remixed to 4-d for my own thrills .ps if you come over bring the pop corn it'll be a loud an long day/eve ,pss an it's so clean you can hear the pages turn in the Orchestra !! an yes it was by far one of the best audio shows ive ever been to an floyd of course ! peace to elp/floyd lovers

  • What a song, what a voice, what a performance! I was lucky enough to see ELP in London a couple of years ago, and they were really good, but this has performance has to be them at their peak. Big thank-you posting this.

  • I saw this show in Aug. 77. ELP was supposed to be backed by the 100 piece K.C Symphony Orchestra, instead the full 300 piece Kansas City Philharmonic Orchestra showed up. It was EPIC. Emerson Lake and Palmer are among the greats of modern music. Backed by the 300 piece orchestra, the show was absolutely spectacular. Thanks for posting this. They didn't record in K.C., wish they had.. They had enough amplification to shake the Lyric to it's foundations, it was great.

  • Some people have said this, as well as the idea of using the orchestra was, at least, a commercial failure. I stongly disagree, as works, especially this piece, and the piano concerto, is them at their best.anything, that gets us away from the endless formularised pop that then and even now infests our planet, has got to be good.lets have less of the increasingly raunchy videos, but people who can really play and sing.x factor etc....rubbish!ELP sublime!

  • I saw them on this tour in Long Beach, CA, but by the time they got there, they had to fire the orchestra due to money.

BTW - Anyone else think that Keith Emerson looks like Han Solo in this clip?

  • lake is around 400 lbs now...tragic.

  • sorry to interupt
