Lyrics are below.

Jesus Christ Superstar.1973 movie.
Heaven On Their Minds.

Filmed primarily in Avdat, the Dead Sea and the Bell Caverns in Israel, Jesus Christ Superstar is a 1973, Oscar-nominated film adaptation of the rock opera of the same name, based on the conflict between Judas and Jesus in the last weeks before the crucifixion of Jesus. The film was directed by Norman Jewison. Ted Neeley and Carl Anderson were nominated for two 1974 Golden Globe Award for their portrayals of Jesus and Judas, respectively.

Though it attracted criticism from some religious groups, the film was generally well received.

Lyrics by Tim Rice - Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber:

Judas:

My mind is clearer now
At last
All too well
I can see
Where we all
Soon will be
If you strip away
The myth
From the man
You will see
Where we all
Soon will be

Jesus!
You've started to believe
The things they say of you
You really do believe
This talk of God is true

And all the good you've done
Will soon get swept away
You've begun to matter more
Than the things you say

Listen Jesus
I don't like what I see
All I ask is that you listen to me
And remember
I've been your right hand man all along
You have set them all on fire
They think they've found the new Messiah
And they'll hurt you when they find they're wrong

I remember when this whole thing began
No talk of God then, we called you a man
And believe me
My admiration for you hasn't died
But every word you say today
Gets twisted 'round some other way
And they'll hurt you if they think you've lied

Nazareth your famous son
Should have stayed a great unknown
Like his father carving wood
He'd have made good
Tables, chairs and oaken chests
Would have suited Jesus best
He'd have caused nobody harm
No one alarm

Listen Jesus, do you care for your race?
Don't you see we must keep in our place?
We are occupied
Have you forgotten how put down we are?
I am frightened by the crowd
For we are getting much too loud
And they'll crush us if we go too far
If we go too far

Listen Jesus to the warning I give
Please remember that I want us to live
But it's sad to see our chances weakening with ev'ry hour
All your followers are blind
Too much heaven on their minds
It was beautiful, but now it's sour
Yes it's all gone sour
Ah --- ah ah ah --- ah

Listen Jesus to the warning I give
Please remember that I want us to live
So come on, come on, He wont listen to me.
Ah --- ah
Come on, listen, listen to me.
Come on and listen to me.
Ah --- ah....................

  • I feel like this song still holds some relevance in our time.

"Every word you say today gets twisted 'round some other way"

"All your followers are blind, too much Heaven on their minds. It was beautiful, but now it's sour"

People warp and twist the word of God, spewing hate and going to war over misinterpretations. The morality in Christianity is "beautiful," but using God to justify murder and hatred... it's just "sour."

  • Maybe he could listen if you weren't on a mountain

  • He won't listen, listen, to me. Come on listen to me.

  • @realjamable lol dammit, I was thinking that this entire time I was watching this like:

"This is a really great song, and I agree with everything you were saying, but maybe he would listen, if you went up and TALKED TO HIM."

  • @realjamable lmao!

  • Inesquecível! Assisti na década de 70 no cinema...

    :-)

  • @guybots A nice try to be peacemaker, & as my Lord & God said; "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God." Yes, you & my God remind us to work towards peace. But my God died on a cross in agony, rather than take up the offer of 10,000 zealots to massacre the Roman garrison of Jerusalem.

The Muslims consider showing the face of their Mohammed - a mere man - as blasphemy, but he led armies to war and murder.

There is no way tristanthetemplar and I can agree.

  • @tristanthetemplar Look you both agree with each other for the most part.It is all how those ignorants were raised, don't act the same violent ignorant way especially wasting time on yt.Go chat about it and you will see ya actually are on the same side wether yall will admit it or not.It is exactly what THEY want yall to not get along over some misunderstandings on a bad cadence youtube forum missing key nuances face to face humans rely on.

  • @Countrygent100 While i do agree with your point. To me it is how they're raised to believe or read this the wrong way just as you have.First quote drive them out of places they drove you out, kinda self explanatory that is war or eye for an eye.2nd quote as well the first there are similar in most any religious books.Poor context. For instance the Bible one of i shall strike down with great wrath and furious vengeance blah blah.Again agreein with umost Koranists are bad learnin.

  • Judas a cagar no deserto," uma piada, quando saíu o filme nas bocas do mundo.
