On Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, Westwood, NJ had a procession for Marine Sgt. Christopher Hrbek, who was killed in Afghanistan on Jan. 14, 2010. It was his wish for a procession with flags and there was a beautiful turnout.
Someone mentioned that the big dog was Chris's dog.

Rest in Peace & thank you for your service to the USA

After I posted this, my good friend wrote this message below to me. I posted it with her permission:

hey. i didn't want to write this on your video but wanted to tell you...
i was in starbucks in westwood on saturday morning and overheard a conversation between a girl behind the counter and a customer waiting for his coffee and they were talking about Sgt. Hrbek. I didn't know his name at the time, but I am sure it was the same person. The story was so sad. The customer said he saw the Marines go to the house to tell his family and the barista said that the dad was driving home from work and saw the Marine truck pull up behind him as he was driving and knew when it pulled down his block behind him that they were to tell hiim that his son was killed in action. I immediately started crying while i was standing at the counter waiting for my coffee. Her words haunted me for the rest of the weekend.
Your coverage of his procession was perfect. It renews my faith in mankind to know that we do honor our fallen soldiers and that they are not forgotten about. These men and women deserve nothing less than that. I wish they could all come home safe and that this war would be over.
Thanks for posting that.
Hope to see you soon.
xoxo

  • Welcome home sir..

  • Much love to Sgt Hrbek's family and friends, to the USMC. The note posted from your friend is very moving, very sweet.

"Marine is a word of respect. Whenever this word is used it evokes images of Spartans, exemplary examples of American excellence. The elite of the elite".

    ~USMC quote

  • respect from Sweden!

  • Welcome home Marine.

  • Keep guarding heaven's gates, marine. Semper Fi.

  • Chris,I never told you how much of an inspiration you are to me All of the deployments I've been on since 07, I deployed with you. On our work ups & deployment with 2/6, you & I got to spend some good times together both on/off the Gun. I've learned alot from you brother. I will never forget you. You are everything a Marine should want to want to be(THE BEST MARINE I KNOW). Rest in piece my brother, you will never be forgotten. You & your family will always be in my prayers. Semper Fi Marine!!!

  • Kudos to the town of Westwood. This is how EVERY service man should be remembered and honored. At least the jerks from Westboro Baptist Church didn't show. From the looks of the size of this crowd I don't think they would have faired to well.

  • @dreamermex1 You are a complete idiot. Do you actually believe the trash that the media has fed you or are you just stupid.

  • Chris and I grew up on the same block together. He was an awesome guy and a brave marine. No greater love than to lay down your life for your friends. Chris exemplified that to it's fullest meaning. Rest well my friend. Semper fidelis
