I just heard about Tomi today via http://www.bellanaija.com. She has two songs out: "Mi o le think" and "Under". I prefer "Mi o le think". It's very melodic, her voice is raw and the infusion of Yoruba into the song is just seamless. I love it. The instrumentals makes me think of an opera. I don't know why. Moving on.

A bit about Tomi: "A talented singer and songwriter with a distinctive, supple and effortlessly pleasing voice, Tomi's music is a fusion of contemporary urban beats with traditional Nigerian music rhythms and melodies, particularly her native Yoruba, creating a distinctive, authentic and organic new sound as the backdrop for lyrics reflecting the ideals, aspirations and life experiences of her generation, while also showcasing her deep love for and pride in her cultural heritage. Also an actor, Tomi is probably best known for her musical and dramatic performances in Aboriginal Productions' theater productions Fractures and Oluronbi: The Musical. She recently completed her studies toward a bachelor's degree in Linguistics, African and Asian Studies at the University of Lagos. A refreshing new entrant into the Nigerian music industry, Tomi describes herself as simple but honest; complex, but authentic - with no pretense. She is an emerging star whose career trajectory bears following. Tomi is signed to Aboriginal Music, a division of Aboriginal Productions" (credit to http://www.gidilounge.com for the image and information). Look out for more music from Tomi. I know i will.

Enjoy "Mi o le think". Too real.
