  • This beautiful song is nearly 500 years old, a song of the Sefardim, the Jews who had to leave from Spain after the "reconquista" of the catholic kings. It is so full of emotions, so wonderful. I know many different versions. Ester Ofarims one is on of the most beautiful once. Very touching and more than just a song - its history and present.

  • most of them immgrated into the boarders of the ottoman empire where the sultan protected them from the katholics. That´s one of the reasons why Israel and Turkey are so close in military and political affairs

  • as cançoes ladinas fazem -me pensar no fado,hà algo de parecido na melancolia

  • @mtoussieh You are right about the history of Sefardim songs and Ladino. There are many songs of different periods. But as much as I know - that does not automaticly mean I am absolutly right - Adio querida is one of the real old once. I know the song from different singers, not at least two Greek singers and they both told me the song is a real old one. In some concerts with Sefardim songs I got the same information. And the lyrics are pure Spanish. Newer songs are often mixed with Turkish.

  • @Miguel53de Are you sure it is almost 500 years old? I'm not saying it isn't but take in consideration many times we confuse things being in Ladino with necessarily being from the time period the Jews were kicked out of Spain, which is not necessarily so since Ladino has been being spoken ever since and there have been new songs written for the past 500 years outside of Spain too. Thanks!

  • @somethinguncreative yes it is so old. And so wonderful. You can hear more Sephardim songs on Youtube. You can learn about the history of them on wikipedia under Sephardi Jews and under Sephardic music
