This is my version of the Blind Willie Johnson classic honoring Jesus' agony and submission to the Father's will in the Garden of Gethsemane. I was influenced by Rollie Tussing III's and Catfish Keith's versions. It's played on my Rogue Spider resonator in Open D with a Diamond Ultimate slide.

  • I've heard several renditions of this tune and I can say you have done a fine job.

  • @fngrpkn06 Thanks!

  • what Neck Is that One! trying to Figure Out If I should Get the roundneck or the Squareneck one? thanks

  • @DSMLEAF It's a roundneck, originally called a "Spanish" style guitar. It can be played without any kind of slide, just like any regular guitar. The squareneck, or "Hawaiian" style can't be played that way. It's played horizontally, or "lap style," with a "steel" sliding on the strings. The strings are about 3/8" above the fretboard. It's a "steel guitar." The heavy square neck can take more string tension than a round neck. Squarenecks are popular for bluegrass music. Both are cool instruments.

  • @OldSlidePicker Thanks im looking at a spanish style one to buy. Only been playing guitar for almost a year but picked up a blues and folkish style fast so im trying to keep my playing in the delta blues style and i really like the way the Rogue Resonator or any resonator sound. once again thanks and video sounds good

  • @DSMLEAF You'll have fun with it, I'm sure! :-)

  • Thank you for sharing this, Sounds great , first few licks had me hooked, I play republic Tricones and a duolian and just ordered this Rogue from Musicians Friend ( used) Your sound convinced me, Thanks again

  • @autopsy87 Cheap ones. I can't remember whether or not I'd changed the strings when I recorded this. I don't think so. They'd be the 80/20 brass or "bronze" strings that came on it. Bought some more of the cheapo Musicians Gear "bronze" 13s and put on it. I think the originals were 12s.

  • @OldSlidePicker what kind of strings do you use?

  • @meshow31

    Thanks!
