Reid to Obama: Sorry for 'no Negro Dialect' Remark

Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid apologized on Saturday for saying Barack Obama should seek and could win the White House because Obama was a "light skinned" African-American "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one." (Jan. 10)

@summerchick621 Look im not saying that Reid could have worded that differently, but people are treating it as if he just screamed nigger or something. I guess my point is that he was trying to convey that he was happy that Obama presented a good face for the black community, as compared to the ghetto black community that has poorly defined many African Americans. And I agree that he has done that.

I simply don't get it!When a Frenchman speaks English with a thick french accent ,no questions are asked(even considered sexy:ladies!).The Germans speaks English with a strong german accent,no problem.Africa&S.America are the continents where European languages are only means of officially educating,communicating and documenting information.Even the African descendant who never lived in Africa is accused of a false dialect and pays the prize of speaking differently. Is it more than a language?
