blender realistic Gold rock

after hours of studying MIke pans wet rock blender file.. i finnaly achieved a similar wet texture..not as good but convincing

How can I get this good at Blender. I am just starting Blender and I have never had any experience with 3d. I'm 14 and have some iTunes U stuff and a couple books on it. Any idea what is the best way to start. I want to jump right in but that does not sound smart.

@PaleRiderOnTheStorm dude the only way is to jump right in and research research and research! i just jumped in looking at tutorials like everyone here in youtube. just give yourself goals and actually DO ART! but dont just do stupid "TESTS" and upload them like everyone does.. do small finished products that will challenge you

I guess the specularity is fine, but the light source needs to be more defused.

ugly effect, used on grass... its based only on texture making big and slim.... But nice gold anyway...

If you keep this attitude up you're probably going to spend the rest of your life unemployed. You'll then die, looking back on a hollow pointless life where you achived nothing because you've refused to learn anything challenging.

People learn things because the development of skills is rewarding. A "waste of time" would be watching a movie, spending hours surfing youtube, wasting too many hours playing computer games, etc.

Im 13 so im not getting into any investing shit too soon so fuck you but still I never really looked at the money side of this but if its money you don't want than just don't bother making animations. Unless you like to entertain
