Back to my coin hot spot at merredin peak, but tried the area opposite where i find most of my coins. this area is like a rubbish dump from 50s and 60s. full of rusted rubbish. but i set the at pro to discriminate out anything over 95 on its target id, which is normally only rusted stuff. found 4 coins including a threepence from 1942, 2 pennies from 1939 and 1951, plus a halfpenny from 1953

  • Behind Merredin Peak there is a spot where the sewage trucks used to dump the sewerage back in the old days. Dad knew about it and when it came time to get some good soil for our garden, we dug the soil up and took it home. Incredibly, we had all these tomato bushes come up in the garden. It is weird how tomato seeds pass through your system and survive in the soil for years later. Regards, VB Ed.

  • Any keepers is a good hunt! Merry Christmas!! GL & HH!!

  • Jack, if you look under the last number on the Threepence you will see a small 'D'. This meant your Threepence was minted in Denver USA. During the war years America helps us out with coinage as the Aussie Mint could not keep up and it was doing other things for the war effort as well. During the war years Australia had coins minted in San Francisco, Denver and Melbourne. A 1942 Threepence without the 'S' or 'D' is worth a few dollars as there was not that many minted. Merry Christmas Mate. Pete
