I am of the opinion that the preference for automatics is one of the main reasons for all those cases of SUA.

Over here in SA we have 6-speed manuals. We don't have the 2.4 liter engine though, only a 1.3, 1.6 and 2.0. We also have the 2.0 Diesel, which is the one I drive. A Diesel with a 6 speed manual makes for a wonderful long-distance machine.

I read some stats somewhere that suggest that 93% of vehicles sold in the US are automatics. Over here it is the exact opposite, and if you do the drivers test in an automatic you get a limited license that only allows you to drive automatics.
