This transfemoral amputee, including reconstructive surgery involving a tibial turn up, also had a Girdlestone procedure. This video shows his early attempts to walk with the aid of only one crutch. Note that his amputated leg is advanced advanced via the muscle in his stump, not by swinging his hip. His stump "pistons" about 1 1/2 inch with each step. The Girdleston
