bean hummous

about 1/2 lb beans (250g)
2 cloves garlic
1tablespoon tahini
juice of half a lemon
seasoning of your choice

cook the beans in boiling water for about 5-10 minutes and drain them
peel and chop the garlic
juice the lemon
add the tahini
add the seasoning
chuck everything in the blender
zzzz it up
we like ours quite thick. if you want it looser, add a little olive oil or water. you could add a little yoghurt or mayonaise. tomato puree is good too!
serve with bread and veggie sticks.

  • So much effort goes into actually growing & prepping your very own beans. Though the zzzzzzzz part was especially fun, I'll bet. Ooo, LOVE this song especially well.

  • kind of fitted with the whole grow/havest/eat thing going on here! i've learned to be very creative on the whole bean thing with a veggie daughter. it does feel good to eat you own-grown food though. don't think we'll ever be self-sufficiant but we can do self-provision which is ok. happy to have a garden large enough to do it in, no more trips to the allotment with a bin of food waste and all the tools hanging off the pram! gosh that was a long time ago now! thanks for dropping by. hugs. xxx :)
