Here is the ending to the song, after they have dropped it down a few keys.

  • To the people who say he's the only American on par with the Russian Basso Profundos...this video is one big piece of proof...listen to this with a subwoofer and good speakers (or headphones with good bass response)...his voice is very rich with bass but still nice and clear...Tim is the best bass today. No doubt in my mind.

  • I didnt recognize tim with the beard

  • I wish the Southmen were on Spotify!

  • @GamingDrummer89 Yeah, I probably came across a little arrogant. I should change my definition of myself to "amateur singer", lol. Tim Riley is a good bass and I have enjoyed Gold City over the years. George is still my fave though.;) I do cover Josh Turner. I think he has one of the smoothest low voices in music today.

I am not really good at posting videos, hence me only having one mediocre one up. But I will try and get some up of me singing bass.

    Peace to you.

  • @GamingDrummer89 I see that you definitely possess a nice low range. But keep in mind that even though you aren't a big fan of Tim, most of his listeners are. He's kind of an inspirational figure. And just to sympathize, I kinda see where you are coming from. I am not a big Mike Holcomb fan (I think his deeper notes sound forced), but many people are. It's all opinions, lol.

Hope there's no hard feelings. And you should cover some of Josh Turner's lower stuff. Keep it real!

  • @GamingDrummer89 George Younce is definitely, IMO, the closest thing to Tim Riley, as he also has a clear, powerful, balanced voice, so you are right to bring him up.

One thing I gotta say, however, is that with all due respect of course, that last sentence you put is a massive claim. I'm not doubting you, but I would have thought you would put up a video of you hitting those notes before saying that you are as good as Tim. (continued in one more post, lol).

  • @bottomfeeder73 I checked your channel, and I was impressed with your voice. Kinda reminded me of Josh Turner (who has sung down to G1 before). Nice work!

As for why so many people think Tim is great. He's got distinct clarity and balance to his voice and more importantly he's got power in his voice. The only two basses that have won more awards than him (according to the southern gospel history website) are George Younce and Mike Holcomb. (continued in next post)

  • @GamingDrummer89 Well, I can easily hit these notes that Tim hits. I have been a semi professional singer all my life and I can tell you he is " alright". That is all. I can't understand why everyone thinks he is so good? George Younce was far better and pretty much as low. Many others also. He is good but come on. Nothing great. I could sing like that since I was 18.

  • @BraveMan5555 Christian Davis, check him out.

  • i think JD is too soft. listen to ANY song wit Tim in it. he has POWER!! Tim can drop of in his low notes no problem but JD had 2 ahhhhhhh down into it if you get wat i mean. JD low but Tim is THE BEST!!!! no offence:)

  • such a clear and projected bass. he is very controled and it is easy to see why he will always be concidered one of the best basses to ever rock the rafters
