  • Love Frisell and all the guys in this group. Whoever's talking about Frisell "looking down" on anybody or anything has no clue. He's one of the people nominally in the jazz world that embraces more styles of music than anyone I can think of. If you think Frisell only composes and doesn't recompose (or jazz) his stuff, you're mistaken. Frisell is one of the most in the moment and deep in the music players you'll ever see/hear live. He looks like he has no clue where he is sometimes inside it

  • Frisell has been of fan of John Hiatt for many years. He even once said in an interview that Hiatt was one of his favorite guitarists.

  • @mbruns59 I've got them both :)

  • @brandobean I get what you're saying in terms of recordings/countryish, but live you never know. I heard him with his trio with Eyvand Kand and Rudy Royston last year and it was some of the most inventive exciting playing I've ever heard from him in 20+ yrs. He also played some completely incendiary huge stuff. More than anyone I know, live is the deal with Frisell. He makes good and sometimes great CDs, but he is totally alive when playing live. East/West is awesome as is the Live trio CD.
