Halo 3 Tutorial: The Cave of 1,000 Faces

A detailed tutorial on how to glitch out of the map on Sierra117 and reach the fabled Cave of 1,000 Faces.
Also included at the end of the video is a free camera view of the entire area, and a few faces I have pointed out for you.

Many people speculate that the faces are just "imagination" but I beg to differ. I realize the human mind attempts to create faces out of patterns so it knows a focal point to fixate on, but this is not true. It is also not true when people say that this is just bump mapping.. I know a great deal about bump map texturing, and if it was in fact just that, the faces would all repeat themselves in a distinct pattern. I get many comments saying this cave was used in a cutscene. I realize this! That doesn't mean there aren't faces, it just means Bungie had fun with this area because they knew people like me would find it and cause publicity.

@PIEgunz Hello....about 4 years ago my friend and I were looking around outside of a campaign map and we found this really big cave....After exploring it and analyzing the walls we found that there were indentations of faces all over. So we named it the cave of 1000 faces and told all of our friends about it...So yes im not lying I was the one who found this...also now I realize that its not a cave, but I was young at the time :)

goes to show the kind of work detail bungie puts in there graphics to have this idiot thinks he sees faces on rocks. people do it all the time in real life, and they've achieved the same effect in the game

ya i think there are faces. i was surley able to see some. it would make complete sence for bungie to do that. they've made so many other secret faces before. other than most of the other comments i compliment and very much enjoyed your video. ill sub.

I've been there, it's nothing significant, and shouldn't be called the cave of 1000 faces, there are no faces.
