This is just an excellent ball head especially when you also use there legs. I have owned lots of tripods but this is by far the best one ever. Plus the people at Really Right Stuff are very professional and helpful. Buy this setup and it will be the last one you will ever need

does it require the mounting plate diameter on the tripod to be a certain size? I want to use this with my Bogen/Manfrotto 055CXPRO4 but I'm worried that this thing is going to dwarf the mounting plate.
I'll eventually use this with a gitzo mountaineer, but that'll be some time down the road.
