I keep them transparent too, also, I have bubble chat on. It might be confusing at first but once you get used to it, you find it fun and entertaining, and also, when somebody is spamming, you just see the spam in his bubble, letting you read the other avatar text ;-)

Something i need to add. You can also make the nametags transparent. :) I keep mine around 50%. ^^
