Hauxton Level crossing is just off the A10. About 2 miles away from Cambridge. It is a main line and sees trains pass through once every 10-15 minutes. This video was taken on my phone which, sadly, only had a 2 mega pixel camera on it. The train passing was the 2:13 Capital Connect Class 365 going from Kings Cross station to Ely. The barriers here are half-barriers. Not a brilliant idea as, although it is it a 30mph speed limit zone, people jog the lights just to save themselves a couple of minutes. Moreover, 6 people have died at this Level Crossing! The train which was passing was the 2:13pm First Capital Connect 365 class going from Kings Cross station to Kings Lynn!
The crossing has been here since 2003. Since then, there have been no crashes. But, the issue is, the wailer on one of the lights in faulty. Network Rail have been called and are aware of it. They are also aware that on a light at the crossing, the Amber doesn't appear to be working. My opinion, the who crossing needs to be re-done. All the lights are very dim and the barriers make a terrible noise when they rise and lower.
That's a First Capital Connect train... not National Express - just so you know. ;)
