Due to popular demand we have produced another version of our lecture gyroscope. Based on University gyroscopes from the 19th century the 'lecture' gyroscope adds modern technologies that were not available at the time. This gyroscope is superior to anything else on the market. A rubber starter wheel is connected to a small electric drill (sold separately) to get the gyroscope up to speed (7,000 rpm+). Leaving you to do experiments with the high speed spinning gyroscope that spins effortlessly for over 20 minutes.

  • What is the maximum, safe rpm this gyro can operate at?

  • @monkriddler Its very much at your own risk after 5000rpm. I run it at 10,000rpm but there is losts of energy in the disk. It won't stop if it comes out of the gimbals.e.g. it would go through a brick wall.

  • Where can I get one, and how much?

This would be a great chrismas gift to myself!

  • though ive never purchased one of your products, i thank you as an aware human for having these videos available to watch. one impressed can watch and if they do not understand they can LEARN and figure it out. curiosity is the only true teacher as its students learn and not be taught. your tinkering with machines and apparent engineering skills give us hope more than most realize. If there be saints, may you be among them.

  • Man, I want this gyro so badly now. 20 minutes of spin time! That would do nicely on my desk.

Oh, yeah and I could use it in the physics presentation later this year too... :P

  • @author, Plz tell the direction of rotation of the disc. At 1:40, when viewed from left, is the disc rotating CW or CCW?

  • that is sooooooo weird... =D
