We saw this Tarantula crossing the road on the way back from Font's Point in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in Southern California.

  • that's a mature male in search of a female. most likely of the genus Aponophelma

    nice video!

    see the long front legs? if you look closely, each one has a mating "hook" on the underside. those are meant for keeping the female from killing him while he mates with her.
