Curator Thayer Tolles, organizer of the exhibition "Augustus Saint-Gaudens in The Metropolitan Museum of Art," discusses the centenary of Saint-Gaudens's death, including the commemorative activities that culminated in the 2009 exhibition. She discusses the reappraisal of Saint-Gaudens's role in the history of late nineteenth-century American sculpture and the Aesthetic Movement and also takes a look at the artist's interactions with the Metropolitan Museum during his lifetime.
