[Rylan's P.O.V]
I set my items into my cubby and took a seat at my desk, awaiting class to start. I recognized instantly when Lukas walked in and I waved at him as he set his backpack and lunch in my cubby, since the rest were already taken. He sat down next to me and pulled out his homework that was due today.
"Hey Rylan. Did you finish the math homework assigned?" He questioned, smiling at me.
"I did." I said, slipping the sheet of notebook paper out of my green folder. I plopped it down on my desk and twisted my body to look at him. His head craned in the direction of the door, where Zoey and Charlotte were entering. I knew instantly his eyes were fixed on Zoey.
"Pretty." Lukas simply said, watching Zoey in her yellow dress and black shoes as she put away her things into her cubby. They both took there seats, in silence.

[Skyla's P.O.V]
First period was quite the occasion; tension was a joy to have in the morning. Our teacher, Mr. Peterson had reminded the class of the Romeo and Juliet scenes that were due. Automatically, as if a robot, Mya shot me a death glare from across the aisle. She used to sit right next to me, but Mr. Peterson had changed the seating chart. Like fate's calling, Talon and I were seated in the second to last seat next to one another.
"Good Morning NY High!" The announcements boomed on the television. On the TV, there were two girls, Brooke Hill, the other a black-haired named Sofia Garcia.
"Today, will start the sale of Masquerade Winter Formal tickets. They are priced at thirty dollars from now until the end of next Wednesday. After that date, the tickets will rise to thirty-five dollars and will end the following Monday." Brooke spoke, speaking directly into the camera as though she were a professional.
"Finding masquerade masks are quite a challenge, but NY High has found a few locations that have such masks in stock. Halloween Warehouse, Costumes Galore, and Magical Formal are some of the places selling masquerade masks." Sofia added, flipping her hair back a bit and smirking at the camera, her peach lip gloss glistening in the light.
"Thank you for listening and have a great day NY Snow Leopards." They said in unison, fading into black. I glanced at Talon and we both had the same look on our face, how the nerves were kicking in because of how close the dance performance was.
Class flew by quickly and the transition bell rang, causing a stir among the class, everyone sliding out of their desks and dispersing in every which way. I slipped my one-armed messengers bag onto my shoulder and walked over to my locker. I inputted my combo and unlatched the lock, opening my locker. I stashed a few folders and binders in there and slipped out a few textbooks.
"Hey girl." Keegan said, unlocking the locker next to mine. She had transferred her locker because Sage had become all bitchy on her. When she flung the locker door open, a picture of us was attached to the metal with two cloud locker metals. Underneath the picture was a little slogan 'friends for life' which caused me to smile at how much our friendship grew since a few weeks ago.
"What's up buttercup?" I questioned, smiling cheesy at her. She cracked up laughing and almost hit the floor, literally.
"Don't say that again, my grandma asks that." Keegan said, shaking her head lightly. I sort of considered her my best friend, since Elijah abandoned me for satin's child, the other one.
"Aw." I declared, attempting to cover my little slip of emotion as I gazed as Talon was helping David pick up the books that Maximus and other players scattered. Keegan craned her head and scanned the scene I peeped at.
"Kind and helpful added to the checklist." Keegan said, making two air checks with her pointer finger.
"What checklist Key?" I questioned, clutching my book and binder to my chest, outlining the binder rim. She was suddenly jolted forward and flown to the floor, spreading her books. She had almost face planted into the floor, but thankfully was faced the way the person had pushed her. My eyes scanned from Keegan to the guilty party, Sage.
"Oops, I'm so not sorry." Sage said, with Elijah on her arm. He wasn't even looking at what his problematic girlfriend was causing.
"It's...fine." Keegan said.
"It is not. Apologize Sage, for being a bitch. Oh wait, I mean being you." I said, stepping into her face, I definitely had some newfound confidence.
"We aren't in kindergarten Blackwell." She said, rolling her eyes. Boy what I would give to punch her square in the face.
"Skyla, it's okay." Keegan interrupted, getting back onto her feet.
"Hey Keegan, how is that crush on Elijah, my boyfriend, treating you? Oh wait, I meant Keaton or is it some other guy? I mean last I checked, you were giving some guy the satisfaction of getting pleased down in his prized possession." Sage spat. Elijah instantly glided his eyes over to Keegan who was beet red. Before I could croak another word, Keegan was off like a police car.
