@tman229 Yes karate has jab-like punch it's called kizame zuki in shotokan karate, but the hand is drawn back right away just like in boxing or with back fist not like this. If you watch techniques he is teching in this wideo it is obvious that western boxing had grat influence on modern karate just as it had on kung fu and muay thai.
Question.... did karate always have jab like punches? I do Goju Ryu and they mostly have me start out with a back fist followed by a reverse punch and then so on.
No Luca, is not a traditional style of Karate, but as is roots in Kyokushin Karate that is closer to the real fighting as Mas Oyama idealized. So it is a full contact knock down Karate like Kyokushin Karate is. OSU!

I don't like this stile of karate: the stand and the punches of this guy has nothing to do with karate. in 1:56 his front leg can be broken too easily by a kick on his knee. look shotokan karate: it's very much better
He does? Anyway, he is showing you the punch, I'm sure in actual fact that he wouldnt drop it......Anyway words are cheap, I train with Sensei Skouzis, and he lives with what he does.
@luca346 Not at all, it is close to western boxing than okinawan karate, shotokan is traditional especially the kugb
