"Semester" isn't just an American word. I guess they don't use it in the UK, but here in Australia we get four school "terms" in the year, and "semester" refers to a set of two terms (so basically half a school year). I don't know if it's used the same way in the US, but yeah that's how we use the word. :)

I didn't know semester was exclusively an American word, haha... I learn something new everyday... what do they call it in the UK then? Is it "term"?
