In the studio testing my revived Emulator 2. It gave me such an inspirational sound that i created this "grande" musical piece. If you like this music, mail me to get your own FREE high quality copy of a first mixdown. It will NOT be available on CD or other medium, so if you like it you can only obtain your copy by contacting me personally. I like comments too!

The real soul of the 80s can be achieved only this way, with all these units around. The gear itself is the inspiration. Now all the hipsters with macbooks & microkorgs are pretending to make a kind of fake 'retrofuturism' with heads full of other things. Even if our old dreams became better than the future itself, keeping the vibe is better that creating a trendy pseudo-copy. Especially this track is a straight continuation of the past! Excellent!
Thanks! In the current world it is a difficult task to maintain a quality studio like this, or even make it profitable, that is probably why people choose replica software just because it is cheap and doesn't swallow semiconductors. It is this "downloaders" era that is killing music and good studio's really. I am lucky i have bought this top notch stuff in a time a studio could florish and generate an income.
I am currently producing a quality track under the name Charlie Conrad! check it!
Drums are Oberheim DMX, SDS1000 and TR808. Outboard FX Ensoniq DP4 (2x), Yamaha SPX90II and REV5, Boss delays / flanger, Roland DEP3, varous obscure reverbs and analog reverbs (Sansui spring reverb). Compressors i use, drawmer and Urei. I don't comress much, only vocals.
Im happy to know you use an Ensoniq DP4 and a SPX, i started rebuilding a new sound in my home studio over a year ago but kind of run out of time, life etc, but im back on the case again and have to recap, so this is a nice memory jog. I use the DP4 and SPX, but i use a Lexicon to cover my reverb and delays (on a budget), my only regret is that i have no compressors to add to the sound, only a Klark Teknik that is more functionality than sound and better suited to PA.
Oviously i would love to have Drawmer and Urei comps but space and funding is an ongoing problem. So i have a question !
I produce various styles of music but am more focused on my own style of Electro/Indie Dance/80's/Minimal/Future Retro kind of sound. I need that warm 80's vintage authentic sound, am i safe to leave it the mastering stage (using a professional studo), to add that final 'miilion dollar' warmth and to get the sound i want ? I work as hard as poss to get the sound with the
to get the best sound i can out of what i have got, but do i need to be incorporating the big Urei compressors of the world earlier in the development stages ? Im not too woried about vocalists at the moment, but the sound i get from my synths, samplers and various instruments is important to me. Not sure if im asking too much, but do you have any equipment suggestions that may help ?
