This is what happens when a cruise ship pulls into port. I've been told that these are not the ship's crew but are actually dock workers (thanks KreuzfahrtenVideos). They toss small lines that are attached to larger lines. They then pull in the large lines, by pulling in the smaller lines that are attached. This is a really fun show to watch. I filmed this while aboard the Carnival Pride in King's Wharf, Bermuda. Enjoy!
@KreuzfahrtenVideos Thanks again captain! I've update the video description too.

Indeed especially in Bermuda! They are called officially "Lineshandler".....but there are in some pports of the world piers where electronic/magnetic systems are installed which the captain controlles from his bridge by remote control.

@KreuzfahrtenVideos Thanks for the feedback and I stand corrected =) My only experience with boating is captaining a 19-foot "ship" LOL =) I bet they would have gotten arrested by armed guards or something if they just pulled up and tried to tie off.

Sir, that is 100% wrong! Never in any part of the world does the ship's crew ie up a vessel. In fact no one from the ship is permitted ashore until local authorities have boarded andd cleared the vessel a process that takes at best 30 minutes or a long as several hours. The persons who tie up the vessel are shore side employees.
So best correct as others will question your "wisdom". Cheers
