I would assume if he's giving that car all it can handle, he would need to lift JUST ENOUGH, and ONLY FOR AN INSTANT, so the weight redistributes on the suspension, giving more steering response. Im not talking about enough to lose even 5MPH.
Hell he might not have needed to lift at all if he could have driven to the apron without lifting, or drove to the wall, gone around.
If u were a true race fan, you'd have understood what I was talking about without me needing to explain it to you.
@DigitalAlpine Of course it takes a true racing fan and driver to understand. And obviously you aren't either. He's not going to lift that close to the finish when the car in front has a problem that could give him the win. Think if Dan Wheldon had lifted at the Indy 500 this year after Hildebrand wrecked. And exactly how old around anyway?
@jmsmontecarlo87 what do u mean, if I look at the video? What if I don't look at it? Something else happens? lol
You don't need to think. That usually gets you in trouble anyway. You only need to react instinctively based on previous experience. At the first sign of smoke, Carl could have lifted for better steering response, adjusted his line (towards the apron), and been back on the throttle an instant later. He also had a chance to go against the wall but stayed in the path of the smoke. DUH
@DigitalAlpine If you look at the video Ricky was swerving a bit and Carl was trying to react. Sometimes in racing you don't have time to think about which way to go. ^_~
@mgtyresnz No matter what comments or insults you throw into the conversation, it doesnt make my 'advice' any less valid.
Sorry if I struck a nerve in commenting that Carl made a bonehead move... but its not like it's the first so I can see how you're very familiar with sticking up for him.
@DigitalAlpine
Even if he did do that, Stenhouse was dropping oil. Kinda hard to control any car driving through oil.
