Hey everyone, back again this time focusing on overdrive pedals. The pedals used in this demo are the Boss BD-2 Bluesdriver (stock), Ibanez TS808 RI, Fulltone OCD V.4, Fulltone Catalyst, Fulltone Fulldrive 2 Mosfet, and BK Butler/Tube Works Tube Driver 3 knob version. All pedals are 100% stock. I am thinking about getting the Keeley mod on the Bluesdriver, not that it really needs it but I'm always looking for the best tone. Amp used is a Dr. Z Maz 18 Reverb and the guitar is a Gibson R8 Custom Shop Les Paul. The socks are Haynes extra large ankle length for men. Socks are a VERY important and often overlooked aspect of guitar tone.

  • Have you tried Diamond MK3 ? What is the best low-medium overdive pedal for P90 ? any idea of model with clean boost in ? like the diamond, but i find it too muddy.... best regards, bélo

  • @BELOROYAN

Sounds like you need to try a Paul Cochran Tim or Timmy pedal. Also, you may like the Kingsley Jester which is a really nice gain pedal that actually runs off a tube. I'm really digging the Xotic stuff nowdays so you can also try the AC+ or BB+...probably the most flexible dual boost pedals on the market today. Hope this helps

  • Great video man and great playin! I was wondering does the BD-2 lose any low end? How does it compare to the Full Drive 2? They kind of sound similar in this video but I know in person things sound different. I have the OCD and I love how it keeps the integrity of my tone very transparent. I used to use the OCD to boost my TS9 but my TS9 just recently took a turn for the worst. Any feedback on these pedals would be greatly appreciated, from anyone that reads this actually!

    Thanks

  • @maynardblues One of the cool things about the BD-2 is that it retains, if not ADDS low end to the tone. It's totally different to the FD2 in many ways but they can be dialed to sound similar. On a budget the BD2 is a very solid pedal. It's kind of "raggedy" and "snotty" like a cranked up tweed or Marshall. The FD2 is simply the most flexible and refined Tubescreamer type pedal I've used. If you love the sound of your TS9 then get the FD2.

  • first off great video, you are a AMAZING guitar player. i was originally going to get the maxon od808, but after hearing the creamyness of the tube driver im stuck haha. is there much difference between the maxon and the ibanez model? whats your opinion on this? if u had to choose one which would it be the ts/od 808 or the tube driver?

  • @nathan549 Thanks for the compliments bro. The Maxon OD808 is a fine pedal. Maxon was the original tubescreamer maker if I'm not mistaken and a lot of guys hold them in higher regard than the Ibanez pedals. I would try both and pick your favorite! The Tube Driver is always in my rig to fill my EJ/Pink Floyd needs. It's definately NOT a tubescreamer though...totally different animal. I still think that the FD2 is the best Tubescreamer pedal for the money out there.

  • The Tube Drive is an excellent pedal, but I tested the four buttons is better ir is one of the best pedals and tested. Excellent video, I like

  • these pedals are just toy but tubedriver. If you want real pedal and real tone Check out Roger Mayer! Stone - x especially

  • You are a great player, btw.

  • Not to be too critical, but you should have had no gain on the amp whatsoever. The combination of the Les Paul and your amp tended to overpower your pedal tones. Not much of a difference in tones from here.

  • i am amazed that you care about the difference in sound. i dont notice any

  • You need to do a demo where you run the Catalyst into the OCD and see if you can get close to Eric Johnson's tone. Great demo, by the way. Most all of them sound great.

  • Danelectros are not good ?

  • Notice your guitar tone through your drive pedals. Your Fulltone pedals don't alter it. Don't pay so much attention to a more impressive output. Focus on whatever leaves your guitar tone unchanged. No overkill, no too much bass/treble stuff, just the overdrive simulation. Try the OCD for Gary Moore / Santana stuff and your Fulldrive2 for southern rock. If you just die for a blues pedal, try the Fulltone Plimsoul and the MI Audio Blues Pro Overdrive pedal. So much better than your Boss pedal.

  • I liked the natural overdrive in the beginning with no effects.
