http://www.FTV.com/videos PARIS - Makeup Artist Mathias Van Hoof describes the makeup look for Costume National. "The look, it's very fresh, minimal," he says, noting that this means just a brush of the eyebrows and a bit of gray to fill in the lids and shape the eyes just around the eyelash. The hair is lightly crinkled in sections, "so it gives the hair a bit more texture and airiness and when they change I'm just going to break it so it stays quite clean around the ears and the shoulders," says Paul Hanlon, the hairstylist backstage. I tried to mix the 50s tender--color, white, fabric, happiness, print, whatever, love--with the graphics of the 80s because I think we need some modernity today," says Ennio Capasa, the head designer for Costume National. Faded white, pink, and yellow tones abound in trench coats, blazers, and summery suits. "I love the rock & roll, punkish color combinations," says Elsa Sylvan, summing up the collection,"But still very clean shapes." Some leather additions later on in the show complete the colorful 50s punk meets 80s couture collection.
