Dramatic video from Long Beach on Long Island, New York shows a lifeguard tower washing away in high waves. Flooding was also reported in other parts of Long Beach. (Aug. 28)

Wish for a hurricane never a tornado

I walked right past that shack on Friday past large backhoes building up sand bars about 10 feet tall or so. Discovered the waves were twice as big as they were supposed to be and I was half as good at surfing as I thought I was. Humbled I rode the foamies for the rest of the day. I had friends that went out in Rockaway Sunday morning.
