  • i was just at sullivans last weekend, wheres this emergence located inside and outside the cave and do you know where the speed hollow entrance is ?

  • @krickit024 I'm not sure outside the cave where the emergence is, and I've never been through the Speed Hollow Entrance so I'm also no help there. Regarding the emergence - there isn't a known way to exit the cave via that route. I believe it has even been dove in an attempt. Inside the cave it's the most remote area you can get to ... you basically would want to have a map with you. I can't reall describe how to get there, especially via You Tube.

  • Hey, Caver1402! I didn't realize you had posted this on youtube. Thanks for showing my butt in the Moutain Room crawl. :-)

  • Oh, Jeffery! Your butt is famous now! :-) I am getting anxious to go caving again ... my first trip is set to be the Mammoth Expedition over Memorial Day Weekend. I need to cave with you and Ralph, too, though! We'll have to plan something ...

  • Did an 8 hour trip into Sullivan with friends not too long ago. First time caving, and the backbreaker near the beginning nearly kicked my butt. Glad I got a 2nd wind, had a blast.

  • where is the location to this cave. I would like to take a trip here with some of my friends.

  • I was in there last weekend, although my trip was a bit more pedestrian.

  • You don't know what you're talking about. I've spent more than 200 hours in Sullivan Cave in all kinds of weather--including heavy rains. Sullivan drains a massive amount of water with little change in it's water level. As for your doctor's "prognosis"--Sullivan does not hold a large bat population. If you HAD contracted Histoplasmosis it would have been more than being "sick the next day."

  • Watch the weather report before entering this cave. I was in this cave in 1988. Huge rain storm. Water had risen several feet by the time we turned around. We had to summerge our heads at several points. Some members of our party began to panic. Funny it was the biggest of us that freaked out, although death seemed very possible. Also got sick the next day, Doc said it was from inhaling bat stuff. Soaking in 55' water doesn't help either. That was the first and last time for this one.

  • Awesome video! I love to cave in Sullivan's, however, we haven't been very far in any of our trips, and are never in there much longer than 7 hours.

  • Thank you for loading this and the hard work. I had a trip to this cave way back in 1973 but we stoped at the first bathub. We spent 3 days in there. It was in the days before there were any maps past the quarry room. Took my son back in with me 25 years later. The bad part is knowing you have to go through the backbreaker to get out!

  • Man does that bring back Memories! Love the bathtub scene. I had to abort my trip to the Emergence twice due to my teammates falling ill en route to the end. That is one, classic cave trip! - CaverScott
