I get all proud when I see Australian actors in big name stuff. We don't have that many out there. Like Nicole Kidman, he has an american roll to his accent now, I suppose from speaking with an american accent so much.

@selty Yeah, you're right. However, I'm sure that when they are around other Australians, preferably IN Australia ;), they can still switch to that accent naturally...

@ComaRadio Actually, he has said he basically figured he had to get rid of his accent if he wanted to act in America, which, in my humble opinion, is quite stupid, but there you go.

@selty Hm, I guess not everybody is like Hugh Laurie haha. But I just won't accept it as a fact that he just "got rid of it"... I'm quiet confident that his accent would come through again under circumstances I described before, especially if he's exposed to it for a while longer.... but there are a lot of (tv) actors out there who cultivate an American accent because of the same reason you mentioned he did.
