This tutorial covers how to use Sony Vegas 8 Pro (will work with Vegas 7 and prior as well) to achieve the settings needed to take advantage of the new YT HD support and how to do batch rendering.

NOTE: Add &fmt=22 to the end of the URL for much better quality!

EDIT: I have created another tutorial showing the same settings using DivX and Xvid codecs

  • I use Vegas 9, and I made a custom template like you said, but when I try to batch render, the custom template for rendering doesn't show.

  • @skittlesaretasty I had that happen too. Either restart the program, or reinstall it. Kind've a shitty system, but it works well once you get it working.

  • Do you need sony vegas 8 to render in HD I use sony vegas 7 :/

  • no, you just need the settings.

  • You sir, are my hero. I have been trying to get it like this for hours.

  • How big are the files after rendering? xD

  • Coud you tell me what program you use for recording video games ? I currently use FRAPS .

  • Is there a way to get the video to render in 16:9 when I put a 4:3 video into the timeline? If I wanted to put pictures on the black bars on the side, then I'd need a 16:9 output to do so.

  • before this tutorial, my files would take hours to render, and my computer wouldnt handle it and it would shut down

with this tutorial i had 720p HD videos rendered in 8 seconds
