I've been extremely gentle with this phone. It's been kept in my pocket by itself, no keys or money. I started noticing scratches after about week or two. After a month or so I ordered some screen protectors. I've had the Incase cover installed since Apple offered them, yet the back has scratches as well.

Needless to say I'm completely disappointed. Is it possible the 'glass' in mine comes from a bad batch?

  • I have the Iphone 4.. Love it.. but It's really annoying everyone freaks about scratches 1 get a screen protector and 2 nobody ever SAID the phone was immune to scratches, it was just said it was alot HARDER to scratch. Geez

  • @smalltownkid2004 From all accounts, the iPhone 4 is EASIER to scratch than the 3G. And apparently it's not the glass that is scratching, it's the oleophobic coating that scratches.

  • I should point out that the scratches on the back came after I installed the case I got from Apple. There are more since I originally created this video and I have not used the phone without the case. This seems to confirm some reports that people are having with the back glass getting scored and cracked.

  • All of you iPhone fanboys are the same. Bunch of whiny little emo pussies crying over scratches. It's a fucking phone! Its going to get scratched. You could solved this problem by getting a good phone, like the Galaxy S II, which puts the 4s to shame. Fucking emo pussies.

  • It is true that the iPhone 3 and 4 have oliophobic coatings, this simply means it resists oil or fingerprints. Other manufacturers have applied the same treatment.

The glass however is Corning's Gorilla Glass and is very resistant to scratching. That is not to say it is impossible. I'm extremely meticulous when it comes to my phone and I would be pissed if it had a hair line scratch on it so I feel for you.

The phone looks like crap with a case on it but what choice do we have?

  • hahaha its funny cause me and you are in the exact same situation although my scratches are no where near as bad as yours. I know how it feels to see that first scratch. Its not a bad batch of glass thats what i thought.Call the apple store to see if its refirbished??. maybe its your case?? otherwise, just know that the scratches can be fixed if theyre that bad to u. As they are to me. but just be extremely careful with it whenever u put it in your pocket make sure its the ONLY thing in there.

  • @leobaby Is that was it is? I don't have any scratches on my phone except for like where dust particles somehow leave little dot scratches.. now that is annoying to me you know?

  • i dropped my iphone 4 from like 30 cm from the floor and there like 10 fricken scratches on it WTF! !!! ! ! ! ! my previous phones could handle that -.- (they are small scratches, barely noticable. but they are STILL SCRATCHES)

  • All glass sratches, but you wont notice it. Just put a screen protector on.

  • I think u have sand paper in ur pocket!

  • I accidentaly dopped my iPhone so low, and 5 scratches came....:S
