Nice mountain climb, bit uneven surface. This bike really needs steering damper..

  • Yes, it's miles and "speed healer" was adjusted totally wrong. It showed maybe just 60% of the real speed.

  • 2001 = SP1

    2002 = SP2

    2003 = SP3

    2004 = SP4

    2005 = SP5

    etc

    although they are only labeled SP1 and SP2. Under the passenger seat there is a sticker indicating the model (Mine is an SP4).

    I must say.. the rider isnt going nearly as fast as the bike is capable of. Nice vid tho. What camera was used?

  • Yes, in public roads I do not race. Race tracks are for that purpose. And even there I'm not pushing bike to its absolute limits.

    Camera I used was Nokia 93i camera phone.

  • I never knew there were some elevated curvy roads in england. where are these roads? rc51/sp1,2 kicks ass!!! long live the rc51! I love my RC51!!!

  • This road is not in England, it's in Japan(close to FujiSpeedway F1 circuit). We are also driving on 'wrong' side of the road here.

  • that's one loud bike but sounds cool. i'm sure it's more impressive in person. what pipes are you running? moriwaki, babyface,...? i have high mount titanium harris for my 02 rc51 and love them.

  • I have yoshimura rs-3 cf pipes, with noise killers. Without killers they are soooo loud(too loud for public roads).

  • i was thinking... "this rider is a pussy" then i realized the video is in japan, and that explains everything.

  • that's miles/h on that speedo right?

  • @jondog9 , the first models off the production line in 2000 were designated SP-Y....thats what i own...in the U.K the bike is know here as the VTR1000 SP-Y.....the SP-Y was very quickly replaced with the SP-1, the only difference being the front forks were finished in dark anodising and the disk carriers were black, don't know if any SP-Y's hit your side of the pond?

  • @lecmslpmex

    I'm in US and 2000 was first year for SP1 here. That's what I have. A 2000 RC51, or technically, RVT1000 SP1

  • @MrXlr8tr I believe it was a marketing decision.. something along the lines of the USA already had RC30, RC211, RC45, RC43 etc. those bikes are all given different names in europe. RVF, VF, VFR etc.. I could be wrong there tho..

  • @lecmslpmex Not true actually. Officially branded with SP2 decals if you look at the serial number of the bike, I actually own a 2004 model, it shows the serial number SP4. So where u r right that 2001 is branded as SP1 & anything 2002 onwards is labelled as an SP2.. all serial numbers & references go by year. SP3=2003 SP4=2004 but YES on the paintwork they r labelled as SP2's to avoid confusion. Check under the pillion seat on the frame for a serial.. an 03 will say SP3, 04 will say SP4 etc.

  • @ENightmare69

    SP 1 is ONLY for first models (2001)

    SP2 is for 2002-2006 and that is the last model of this bike.

  • looks like the roads from initial d lol

  • Why did Honda call this machine a RC-51 in America but SP1 or SP2 everywhere else?
