Althea Hayton developed the Four Zero Plan and wrote "Food and You" to explain how to do it. This one of the simplest diet plans of all, yet it is the most challenging, because it gets to the heart of a problem with food: food addiction.

  • I live in England where the potato is king! The whole potato family is a problem (peppers, tomatoes, tobacco, etc) for addicts. Yes I agree soy and corn are a problem in the US, so if you do this diet, avoid them too. This book is ground-breaking enough for most addicts, saying "Avoid the four ZERO foods." That is enough to get them started on their journey of self understanding. Stages 2 3 and 4 are yet to come. I am still working on this idea, to watch this space.......!

  • The rest for sure, but potatoes? Maybe. Two that I thought should be on the list are soy and corn. They are extremely hard to avoid in an American diet. With all 5 ingredients, I would say 85% of food has this in them or a form of them. I just ate some sliced almonds and they had Maltodextrin in it, which is derived from corn or wheat. Check labels and check the web to find out what you are really eating when you have a cracker or some processed food. You'd be surprised.

  • I love it - thank you so much, Althea

  • You are an awesome woman! I was mesmerised by your voice. What you say is oh so true. More people should view this. I can’t wait to meet you... ;)
