President Mwai Kibaki has challenged farmers to switch from the traditional farming methods and embrace commercially viable farming that will optimize their returns and ensure food security. The president who was presiding over the 2nd national agricultural conference also directed the ministry of finance to avail more funds to the agricultural sector for the purchase of farm in-puts in order to help reduce production costs and cushion consumers against spiraling food prices.
If Kenya got more people involved in agriculture, and embraced traditional agriculture techniques as well as landreform, they would be better off than with chemical based 'modern' farming.
