Granted that many people in EMS are not "normal", unless you define "normal" as being some desk-jockey or burger-flipper or truck-driver or pencil-pusher that does minimal work for a fat paycheck. EMS is a labor of love, and unless you walked in the worn-out blood-soaked boots of an EMT or Paramedic who does this line of work for peanuts, then my educated advice would be to STFU. Great vid.....really stirring.

I just finished three 12hr shifts over Christmas eve, Christmas day and tonight......I had to change uniform 3 times due to being vomited on, and we carried one patient down 9 flights of stairs. I am off for a week to spend time with my family...............and I miss work already ????

How many careers leave you with that sort of feeling.....and how many have such dedicated staff.

From what I have learned in the last year of being a NY EMT-B its one of a very few professions that most people go home truly saying I love my job and mean every bit of it. I love it so much I work full time with a private ambulance and volunteer for the local 911 service. There is no profession quite as fulfilling as seeing some one take another breath because of an action we took.

Im a California EMT and I love it there's no paycheck or amount of cash that can fill the Pride of an EMS Responder knowing we kept another soul a mother a father son or daughter for fading from the world Its not a Job but its a calling and not many people can do what we do but no matter what we are here for you

I love my job as an EMT. I may be young and only a volunteer, but i volunteer enough time that its basically a full time job. I dont get paid for what I do, but I do it anyway. There are many out there that do the same thing. For those that get paid, its one of the lowest paying jobs in the US. Most paid people work at several stations. I love what I do, and Im sure most of the EMTs, Medics, and Firefighters would agree with me! EMS is my life!

I can honstly say the job isnt easy. From expirence You never know what you have comming in. Everyday is a risk. Im 16 and I give my hear and sole into what I do!
