I like his remark about the attitude of China's ruling class: "...been around for 3000 years, have no particular interest in what the barbarians are saying..." I wonder if Chomsky ever tries to be funny or if it sometimes just comes out that way.

I think he knows that the subjects he addresses are purposely convoluted, drawn out and boring for a younger demographic so he tries to break it up and hold attention by saying things they perceive as funny. Even though you can see he doesn't find it funny himself. Afterall, he's a university lecturer.

@antekification - except they will never stop. Jews and Palestinians lived in harmony in 1930's. It was only when Zionists demanded Palestine as their homeland as an escape from the "alleged holocaust," that chaos came to the region.
