Arie: Last mich ihn nur noch einmal küssen - Balinger Kantorei - Collegium Musicum, Tübingen - Ltg.: Gerhard Rehm

Songtext:

Laßt mich ihn nur noch einmal küssen
Und legt dann meinen Freund in's Grab.
Herr Jesu, deine blassen Wangen
Erwecken bei mir dies Verlangen,
Denn meine Liebe stirbt nicht ab.

Allow me but just once more kiss him
And lay then my friend in the tomb.
Lord Jesus, these thy cheeks so pallid
Awaken in me this great longing
For my devotion will not die.

  • A Dutch translation: Laat mij hen nu nog een maal kussen En leg dan mijn vriend in zijn graf. Heer Jezus, uw bleke wangen ontketenen in mij dit verlangen, Mijn liefde sterft niet. Let me kiss him just once And then my friend puts into the grave. Lord Jesus, your pale cheeks Awaken in me this desire, For my love dies not.
  • oooooooooooooooh I love Baaaaccchhhh!

  • @ArtemisSpira It is Melchior Hoffmann, I have posted one of his Cantatas on You Tube...

  • @RIRRATTO That`s right. But I have to declare, even though I love this music, and in relation to most of the people, my knowledge is`nt bad, I`m not a specialist !!!

And I have to admit, that the only friend of Bach I know was Georg Erdmann. Hoffmann I did`nt know. So I`m going to read something about... if I come about something...

  • @ArtemisSpira If you are fond of Bach, you instinctly find that this music cannot be one of his works. We know that he had a lot of Stölzel's music in his library. Listen to a Cantata or a Passion by Stölzel. Well, it could be him ! The composer could be HOFFMANN who was a friend of Bach... Le mystère reste entier !!!

  • @RIRRATTO There is no doubt, I don`t like this kind of infatuation of the anglicanism, too. But in fact nearly all people, born and raised after the second worldwar had learned english in school. That`s the reason why I wrote it. I have learned french in school, too, but, believe me, you don`t want to read this ; )

    G. H. Stölzel you mean? - yes I`ve heard that some compositions of him are in the Bach werke Verzeichnis, but I know, that some notes of Buxtehude and others, too.

  • @ArtemisSpira If my German was good, I would prefer to write in your language. But though my English is rather fluent, I prefer to use it parcimoniously on You Tube. German and French are main languages, and I reject the exclusive use of Anglo-American everywhere in Europe. Sorry.

Some people think that this Passion could have been composed by the young Stölzel.

  • @RIRRATTO

Nobody knows who wrote this passion. The only thing I know, is that J.S. Bach had performed this. Apparently his son, Phillipp Emanuel thought, that it was a composition of his father. Therefor he placed it with a nunber in the "Bach Werke Verzeichnis".

By the way - I think if you had asked in english, perhaps somebody had answered earlier, because as far as I know "BachCantate" is a German like me and not everyone can speak french ; )

  • @Bataja706

The St. Luke passion has also survived, but it's almost certainly not Bach's own composition, but we know that he used it, and therefore must have deemed it worthy or at the very least adequate passion music.

  • i thought that only johannespassion and st. matthew passion survived
