The driver issue is on the corporate end. Many of the hardware manufacturers simply didn't see the feasibility of creating and maintaining drivers for another OS. Many of them are coming around, but do not want it to be open source. But as soon as they realize that people are figuring out the secrets to their hardware anyway, and that it is cheaper for them if the community does the code aspects, more of them will come around.

Hmm the problem there is drivers written for windows...because everyone uses windows.
For that 'someday when it won't be a hassle' to happen, everyone will have to already have switched over. If you get my drift.

Agree, Linux is not there yet, where it will meet my needs. There is too much of a hassle to make things even work on my laptop. I spent 2 days working just on my ATI video card drivers and it never performed as well as in windows. I will switch one day, but not soon. In order to win the average user over to Linux it is not enough to be better than Windows, you have to be exceedingly better and to provide a wide range of Software for Linux. I expect this to happen in the next 8-10 yrs.
