I did this video for our good pal, Kent. He spends a lot of time on the road. He is the gypsy in this song.

Sing along:
Crossroads ... seem to come and go
The gypsy flies from coast to coast
Knowing many, loving none
Bearing sorrow, havin' fun
But back home he'll always run ... to sweet Melissa

Freight train ... each car looks the same
And no one knows the gypsy's name
No one hears his lonely sighs
There are no blankets where he lies
In his deepest dreams the gypsy cries ... for sweet Melissa

Again the morning's come
Again he's on the run
Sunbeams shinin' through his hair
Better not to have a care
Well pick up your gear and gypsy roll on ... roll on

Crossroads ... will you ever let him go, no no no
Or will you hide the dead man's ghost
Or will he lie ... beneath the plain
Or will his spirit fall away
But I know that he won't stay ... without Melissa
Yes I know that he won't stay ... without Melissa

For the guitar enthusiasts (like me) out there:
I'm playing a Gibson SG Special
thru a Boss CS-3 Compression Sustainer
into a Roland Micro Cube amp (the smallest one)
strummed with fingernails coated with NailTek.
The vocal is thru a Rode NT 1-A mic
into a Roland AC-60 acoustic amp.
You would think after all that it would sound better, huh?
Recorded on video tape in my own
No/Sun Studios
Long Beach, Mississippi

This Long Beach I speak of, having been nearly obliterated when Hurricane Katrina passed through, seems to be decades away from ever really being open for business. Although, sitting right here at the very edge of total destruction, I had electricity in 12 days, on the anniversary of 9/11, and broadband internet two weeks later, my house being the next to last not flooded on my street. So why am I complaining. I'm not.

And now, ladies and gentlemen, Leonard doing Melissa, the video.

BTW, Kent Miller can be seen playing bass with Cynthia Fore Miller, Robert Wink and me in From Bar To Band at the following link:

  • Thanks, Rob. I'm glad you're still watching!

  • Nicely done. Needed a little more volume on the vocals though. -Rob
