Hey guys... I've been looking for this version forever, as well! I always preferred it to the album version and the only place I could find it was on this old VHS tape.
Great tip (Whitesnake: Gold)!

C'mon! You kidding right? How can you think that this cheesy solo from Vivian is better than the original from Syke's? Syke's has "outside" licks (when you get out of the tonal scale to spice things up), tapping, Eddie VH whammy bar tricks, alternate picking and everything else. This one from Vivians sucks big time. Just a few cliche lines, horrible whamy bar wankeries and nothing else...

The solo doesn't get even close to Sykes' solo. It's just lots of cheesy whammy bar bulshit.

i like the album solo version cuz the solo just sounds like its given more time to play and you can even hear the tapping clearly

It is strange isn't it? I was pretty shocked when I bought the video and this solo was on it. Even though Vivian's solo isn't much better than the original, it's still better than John Sykes solo. Considering he's a great guitarist and in a different league to Vivian Campbell, he could've done much better.

Thanks, I found it.

Just out of curiosity why did you have to edit the solo footage abit? The reason I'm asking is because this video with the alternative solo was already available. I bought a vhs tape around 1989 which I think was called Whitesnake - The Videos. This video with the alternative solo was on there. Thanks for posting this version by the way. I've always preferred this solo to the album version.

that's weird, I never did find that version. the version of the video that i used has the album version of the solo. and yeah, this is probably syke's weakest solo on the whole record, and vivian's is certainly better here. shame that was all he ever recorded with the band.
